Scott Joshua Dere
Adventure Travel Photography
6:30 p.m. Social Hour
7 p.m. Program
Zoom

Take a virtual trip with Scott to experience behind the scenes traveling to exotic places as he photographs Wildlife and Nature photography. There can be some less than desirable
forms of transportation and always incredible people with very different cultures. Most of all it’s about the incredible images obtained from braving the unknown and conquering common fears of traveling abroad.

Scott has been using a camera since he was 6 years old and at 13, landed his first job as an assistant for a local wedding studio. Later he worked with several local Professional Photography Studios while attending the School of Visual Artis in Manhattan. After he graduated, he opened a Long Island based studio shooting weddings, parties and portraiture. In 2015 Scott was awarded his PPA Master Photographer degree; and in 2018 a PPA Master Craftsman degree. In the last 20 years, Scott has had a wide range of clients including celebrities like Phil Collins and Ellen Barkin. Scott spent the last ten years working with predators in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks using the areas as his winter playgrounds.

February Meeting with guest speaker Steve Labkoff

Join us on February 17 at 6:30 p.m. for a Zoom meeting with guest speaker, Steve Labkoff discussing Macro Photography.

Social Hour 6:30 p.m.
Program 7:00 p.m.

Abstract: Macro photography provides a new world of imaging – with things that are typically right under your nose.  This talk will go over introductory and intermediate concepts on how to get started, what tools are needed, and figuring out strategies to get best results – focus stacking vs single shots.  We will go over tools, techniques and work flows in processing macro photographs.  We will talk about issues involved in planning and execution in macrophotography.  Example image will be presented – with explanations on how these images were made.

Dr. Steven Labkoff is an award-winning photographer based in Stamford, Connecticut. Since the age of 9, Dr. Labkoff captures life as it happens through his lens. His work captures life from unexpected perspectives. His goal is to provide a point of view on a subject that the viewer might not otherwise be able to see on their own. His work was published in newspapers, books and on websites.

From the grandeur of the Milky Way to the details on the wings of a butterfly or a bee, his work presents the world in ways that are simply not seen every day. His photographic works include time lapses, astrophotography, aerial photography, and macrophotography.

He is internationally recognized, having exhibitions on 3 continents from Europe, to Israel and across the US. His numerous photography awards include national and regional awards in New York and New England. Some awards include: range from a PPA Silver Medal in the 2020 International Photography Competition, Best in Show, the 2020 Carriage Barn Photography Show, New Canaan, Connecticut, including TOPS in Connecticut 2019, Photographer of the Year 2019, Photograph-of-the-Year 2018 at the Stamford Photography Club and Best in Show at the Dutchess Regional Professional Photographers Club, a regional PPA club. His work has been in several juried shows across the region. He is available for commission work for stills, landscapes, and drone photography. Visit his website at https://www.luminantpix.com/
