Prepare your images now … or just come to look and listen! It’s a great way to learn from the judges.

Entry Rules:
Longest dimension 4,000 pixels (20 inches at 200 ppi) sRGB or Adobe 1998
Image Title.jpg (Sample: New York at Sunrise.jpg) Must be exact name of Print

JPG, quality 10
Not to exceed 3.5 MB
Portrait * Weddings/Events * Illustrative
up to 4 images

Do not use your own name in the file. Remove any keywords added to the EXIF data.

Make one folder with your name, drop all of your photos into that folder, along with completed Microsoft Word ‘Print Submission Form’ from the website. Email the folder to Natalie Kane, natalie@jamesferrara.com.

DEADLINE: 9:00 A.M. SHARP MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH – NO EXCEPTIONS!

Submit early to be safe. Natalie will send you a confirmation via email by Monday at 5:00 p.m. If you do not receive the email by Wednesday night, call her immediately at (845) 534-5025 or email.

Canandaigua, New York photographer, Steve Chesler, will be presenting his program on compositing in Photoshop. This program will touch on his shooting techniques used with the final composite in mind, along with his editing techniques to create the finished product. The program also touches on the products used as the final medium to display the composites. Bring your laptops to follow along.
Steve Chesler’s work has earned him awards on the state, national and international levels, with numerous blue ribbon prints, as well as being a multiple Court of Honor winner. He won the prestigious Photographer of the Year award from t…he Professional Photographer’s of America.

Meeting and Guest Speaker: Clark Thompson, Sports Photography

7b260f_31eae872468e493e82aef077208ce380[1]Clark is an avid sports photographer capturing action for youth, college, adult and professional sports throughout the Hudson Valley and New York city area. Clients include NBA’s D league Westchester Knicks, Women’s profession football New York Sharks, Triple Crown Sports, ZogSports NYC, local colleges and various leagues both men and women. He started his pursuit into action sports photographing semi-pro football leagues and now can be found on many courts and fields capturing the major sports and upcoming sports as kick-boxing and roller derby. He has a bi-monthly magazine called Metro Sports Magazine, featuring local …athletes and teams.

Clark is a member of the Professional Photographers of America as well as Professional Photographers Society of New York Hudson Valley charter, Dutchess Regional Professional Photographers, Mid-Hudson Photography Club, Westchester Photographic Society and other photography clubs.

Image competition can be a challenge for even an experienced photographer.
What  actors go into the creation of a merit image?

Paul and Owen are both PPA trained judges. They will take you through the process of selecting the appropriate “WOW” image, enhancing it in post-production, creating a professional presentation and finally selecting that perfect title to put your entry over the top.

Learn the techniques and procedures that you can apply to increase the odds of getting that merit image the next time you compete.

Photo Imaging Workshop – July 16 – 21, 2017

Located on Seneca Lake, between Syracuse and Rochester, Hobart & William Smith Colleges is a private school which provides a perfect setting for a concentrated week of photographic advancement. Registration will be from 1-4pm on Sunday, followed by a wine and cheese party from 5-6. After a 6pm dinner, group & class photographs are done and a short informational session is held with your instructor. Classes are daily Monday through Thursday approximately 8:30am to 4:30pm and will adjourn at noon on Friday. There is a banquet Thursday night and afterwards the students receive their packets from their instructor.

Your tuition ($995.00) includes a prominent instructor for the week, air-conditioned classrooms, dorm facilities, choice of course, breakfast, lunch, dinner, the wine and cheese party, Thursday night banquet, degree merits for PPA members ( if PPA member ), class photograph, diploma for the wall, T shirt, and central parking facility.

Optional no meals plan – if you would prefer not to eat on campus for the week and wish to get your meals elsewhere you can deduct $100.00 off your tuition. You still can get meals on campus after choosing this option but you will have to pay for them at the door. Once you choose the “optional no meals plan” the regular meals plan is not available. Sunday’s dinner and Thursday’s banquet will still be included in your tuition.

Lodging: Rooms are included in tuition. If you prefer no room, deduct $40.00. Be sure to write the location of your lodging on your registration if you are to be located off campus. Also individuals, not attending classes, can stay at the town houses, meals included, for just $325.00 extra each.
