In addition to the “Print of the Year” competition,
our guest speaker will be Mark Sweeney “Something Out of Nothing”.
In this program, Mark will discuss how he makes images from ordinary items and the process of making them competition worthy. He will speak about competition and explain what he did with some of his images to make them what they are.

You must be a member and be present at the meeting for your images to be judged and/or critiqued.

Image Size: Longest dimension 4,000 pixels (20 inches at 200 ppi) Color Profile: sRGB or Adobe 1998
Named as: Image Title.jpg (Sample: New York at Sunrise.jpg) Must be exact name of print
Saved as: JPG, quality 10
Total File Size: Not to exceed 3.5 MB
3 Categories: Portrait * Weddings/Events * Illustrative
Max Entries: 6 images
‘Print Submission Form’ will no longer be used!

TEP – Hudson Valley
On August 5th, we held a Hudson Valley TEP “On the Street and In the Air” at Safe Harbors of the Hudson in Newburgh with special guests Jim LaSala and Clark Thompson. It was a dynamic, full-day program with a nice group of attendees.
Jim LaSala led photographers on a walk around Newburgh interacting with locals and capturing their stories.
Clark Thompson led groups capturing sports photography including trapeze, circus arts and motion photography.
It was a great day – thank you to everyone that came out!

June Meeting with Scott Dere – Photography in the Wild
Join us for our next meeting on Wednesday, June 19th with guest speaker, Scott Dere “Photography in the Wild – Photographing Animals in Their Natural Habitat.”
Scott Joshua Dere began photography with his own darkroom at age 5, worked professionally at 13 for commercial and private studios in NY, and opened his
own studio at age 25. He has earned national recognition as being a true naturalist and
talented photographer, and his passion and enthusiasm sets Scott from all other
photographers. He is the recipient of both his Master of Photography and Master
Craftsman degrees. His new fine art company, “The Elements of Nature”, is
dedicated to intwining the elements of Environment, Weather, Lighting, Action
and Impact to create artistic photographs of wild animals in some of the most scenic,
rare locations on Earth.

LUMINAR & the Future of Imaging Software
Luminar is an alternative, inexpensive, nondestructive photo editor that minimizes the complexity of image editing for both amateur and pro users. Whereas Photoshop and Lightroom involve a steep learning curve, Luminar provides tools for similar editing results with a much easier to understand interface. Recently updated to include asset management capabilities, this simplified yet powerful approach is indicative of the direction in which all image editing programs are now moving.
Alan Perlman has been a working professional photographer for more than four decades, specializing in corporate communications, executive and business portraiture and special events of virtually every description. His client list includes numerous well-known companies and organizations including American Express, Greyhound Lines, AXA Financial, Costco, The Big Apple Circus, etc. He was the resident photographer at the NASDAQ Stock Market for more than seven years and his work has appeared in numerous publications around the world. He was an early adopter of digital technology and purchased his first DSLR in 1996. He has been teaching and speaking about digital photography in a variety of venues since 2006 and was named an Outstanding Teacher-of-the-Year by the Suffolk Association for Continuing Community Education in 2010.

“Imagination is the faculty or action of forming new ideas, images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses.”
During David’s program “Creating Art with Your Camera,” he will discuss new ways to see and capture a variety of subjects by using techniques such as motion blur, multiple exposure, and lens zoom. Searching for and capturing subjects that are often overlooked or seldom seen will also be covered.
